The following poems were origionally printed in the Golden
Circle Social Club newsletter under my pen name of Swinging Sydney
Shortfellow. I make no claims of great poetic talent, but did feel
that they portrayed the sense of adventurous freedom enjoyed by
those in the swinging lifestyle. They certainly reflect my feelings
both then and now.

My wife and I were fairly new to swinging at the time these
poems were written and perhaps they will be of interest to those
considering entering the lifestyle. Whether you are potential or
quite experienced swingers, I hope you will enjoy reading these
humble verses.

A Poem
One day it came to me that
There must be more to life.
We weren't having any fun
That's what I told my wife.

The parties that we went to
Became a frightful bore
The same people and the stories
Heard a hundred times before.

We had to find for us a way
To climb out of our rut.
We knew we needed something
But couldn't decide what.

Swinging, I suggested, would
End the boredom hex.
She agreed it would be different
But didn't want the sex.

After long discussions we agreed

Elation tempered by the spats

New friendships have enriched our lives
Almost immeasurably so.
Life is more worth living than
It was a while ago.

Not everyone can handle this scene
Not everyone should try

Will their horrid havoc wreak.

More than once as we've all seen,
Alas, as some of us have done,
People lose their cool, make a scene
And despoil the night of fun.

There may be some insensitive boors
Who do not these trials share.
They cannot have a mate like yours
For whom they deeply care.

Engrossed in mere expediencies
